A bail bond service may charge a percentage of the bail, but the majority stays in your bank account.

Licenced Bail Bondsman

What’s it mean to be a licensed bail bondsman in California?

Every state has it’s own rules on how to get your bail bond licence. Whether it be through a bail bond company or as an individual, you still must meet all the state requirements. The process is handled by The California Department of Insurance. Every agent at Lucky Bail Bonds has first completed a rigorous 20 hour training course, then passed the states “Bail Bond Examination”.  The exam is based on California Insurance Code Sections 35, 1733, 1800-1822; California Code of Regulations, Title 10, Sections 2053-2104; and, California Penal Code Sections 1268-1319.6; and other sections referred to in these sections. And it’s timed. On the good side, if you fail, you can take it again, after paying the fees again.

Though the agents are licensed to work anywhere in the state of California, the agents assigned to Lucky Bail Riverside primarily work the Riverside County area. This includes but is not limited to the cities of Moreno Valley, Banning, Beaumont, Hemet, Temecula, Murrieta, Perris, Riverside, Corona, Norco, Lake Elsinore and Rubidoux.

Bail Bond Application Requirements:

  • Identification, perspective bondsmen must have identification proving that they are over 18 and have resided in the state for a minimum of 2 years.
  • Background checks are performed by the Department of Insurance. If the perspective bondman has any felonies he/she will be disqualified from being able to get their bail bond licence.
  • Of course they have to successfully complete the 20 hour pre-training course.
  • Then they must pass the California Bail Bond Examination.
  • Pay their application fee ($468.00 for first timers)

After all that, if your still willing able and qualified, you’ll receive a 2 year license. Congratulations.

As a bail bondsman, you are expected to assert the highest level of ethics and have complete respect for the rights of the accused.

SB-10 Bail seems to still be alive. What that means for the bail bondsman of Riverside is still to be determined. The bill was introduced by Senators Hertzberg, Allen, Anderson, Atkins, Beall, Bradford, Lara, Mitchell, Monning, Skinner, Wieckowski, and Wiener back in December of 2016. It was last amended in the senate in September of 2017. It still seams to be alive and well as it sits in committee waiting to be re-read and re-referred to the committee after approval of authors. San Diego’s own Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez Fletcher (D-San Diego) chaired the committee and felt that the legislation did not belong in the Public Safety Committee.

In the last amendment counties like Riverside would be given 2 years to phase in the provisions, and give bail bond agents and companies time to adjust.
You can read more on the bill and how it would effect the bail bondsman of Riverside at
